  • رَآءَ Form I He saw
(like خَافَ, TA, [app. indicating that its aor. is يَرَآءُ, like يَخَافُ,]) a dial. var. of رَأَى [He saw; &c.]. (M, K.)
  • ريّأ فِى الأَمْرِ Form II He relaxed the compression of his throat: or he relaxed the cord by which he was being throttled
    i. q. رَوَّأَ [q. v.]. (T, * K.) -A2- ريّأهُ, inf. n. تَرْيِيأَةٌ, i. q. فَسَحَ عَنْهُ مِنْ خِنَاقِهِ [app. meaning He relaxed the compression of his throat: or he relaxed the cord by which he was being throttled]: (M:) or فَسَحَ عَنْ خُنَاقِهِ [which app. has the former meaning: or perhaps means he, or it, relieved his quinsy, so that he had room, or freedom, to breathe]. (K.) -A3- ريّأ رَآءًا He wrote a ر. (TA.)
  • رايأ فُلَانًا Form III He feared, or was on his guard against, such a one

  • رِىْءٌ Sight
a subst. from رَآءَ mentioned above: (M, K:) [i. e., it signifies Sight; &c.; like رُوأْيَةٌ:] and رَآءٌ is said by MF to be like it; but this is a mistake, occasioned by his finding الرَّآء, in a verse, miswritten for الدَّآء. (TA.) ― -b2- [See also رِيأْى.]
  • قَصِيدَةٌ رَايأِيَّةٌ Open entry
