What ArabicGenius keeps about you, why, who else sees it, and how to take it with you or delete it.

What we keep
- Your account: email address, username, password (stored only as a one-way hash), time zone, and the choices you make when you sign up (daily goal, focus, reasons for learning) and your placement level.
- Your learning: your flashcards and reviews, reading progress, the classes you join, and a daily record of study time, lookups and pages read, which drive your streak and progress pages. Study time is counted only while the site is open and you are active.
- What you upload: the files you upload and the text read from them. Uploads are private to your account.
- What you write to the AI: questions to the reading assistant and messages to the conversation partner are sent to answer you; we don’t keep conversation history.
- Messages to us from the contact form.
- Payments: you enter card details on Stripe’s payment page, and they go only to Stripe. We keep your plan, the card’s brand and last four digits, and copies of your invoices.
Who else sees it
We don’t sell your data or show ads. Some services work for us and receive only what they need:
- DeepSeek (AI) receives the text of the page you’re reading with your question, or your conversation messages, to write the answer. It doesn’t receive your name or email.
- Google (Gemini and Document AI) receives the pages of your uploads that need reading by OCR.
- Stripe (payments) receives your email address and username, your card details when you enter them on its page, and what you buy.
- Our hosting, file storage and email providers store and deliver the site’s data and emails.
- Teachers of classes you join see your username, level, streak and progress on the readings they assign. Classmates see your weekly study time on the leaderboard, unless you turn that off in your profile.
Cookies and storage in your browser
We use cookies only to keep you signed in and to remember settings such as a collapsed sidebar. There are no advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser also keeps a few conveniences on your device, such as recent dictionary searches and typing scores.
Your choices
- Download your data from your profile: your account details, flashcards, reading progress and study history in one file.
- Delete your account from your profile. Your account, learning history and uploads are deleted at once. Copies in our database backups disappear within 14 days.
- Correct your details in your profile, or ask us to.
Questions
Ask us anything about your data from the contact form. If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll tell you by email before it takes effect.
